July fun

Here are a plethera of pictures for you viewing enjoyment.  Have I mentioned how much fun our street is?  There are so many kids!  We have made about 10 new friends just on our street!
This kid is hilarious.  Still not talking...but loads of fun!

Of course we have to start checking out the local attractions...

I think that is a dog he is pointing at....

Brooke could care less about the scenic views.  She found a pile of sand on the main walkway through the park and sat down and began digging...

I bought this beauty at a yard sale for $5.  I almost forgot to take a picture, so it is partially sanded.

I painted it blue and did mint green harlequin diamonds on the top.  (The colors look a little off in the picture)
 I absolutely love it!

And the most exciting part of the post...I am set up to teach piano lessons in the fall!  I can't wait!
I only have 4 more spaces open!  It filled up faster than I thought.  If you know anyone in the Springs that wants lessons, send them my way!

Long time no post!

It has been almost a month.  For me that is practically an eternity for my history of blogging!  I have just been swamped!  We moved in to our new house on the 1st of July.  I absolutely love it here.  I promise I will get some pictures up soon.  I really haven't even had my camera out.  I have been editing pictures like crazy though.  If you want to see them, check out my photoblog here. I have been unpacking, organizing, scouring craigslist for furniture, and chasing the kids up and down the block on their bikes.  I have been discovering Ft Carson, and the cool things that the Post has to do.  We have met all of our super friendly neighbors.  They are awesome.  The only complaint I have about our house/neighborhood are the dogs next door/behind us.  Why does their owner think it is a good idea to let them out to bark at 4 a.m?  I wouldn't even know they had a dog if it wasn't for that.  It drives me nuts.
The kids are doing great adjusting.  I really don't think they have to 'adjust' at this age.  They just kind of go with the flow.  Heath is such a little helper right now.  He does laundry with me, picks up his toys and still can make a mess in about 1.5 seconds.  He is still super happy.  I am just waiting for him to speak.  He babbles but 85% of it is incomprehensible.  (to me anyway)  Brooke is sleeping a little more now that she has her own room.  She is obsessed with riding her bike and her and Peter are outside for about 4-5 hours a day.  I think that is contributing to her improved sleep...  Peter is doing better riding his bike too.  He is a little apprehensive on his 'big' new bike.  He goes at the speed of SLOW.  We have been going to Pueblo Reservoir every week to go wake boarding.  Peter got up on his knees on the knee-board yesterday!  He was SO excited!  Brooke knee-boards all by herself too, but she just stays on her tummy the whole time.  Heath is awesome in the boat.  For being so adventurous, he is a little afraid of the rocking and humming the boat makes, so he just sits as still as a stone in the passengers seat the entire time!
Bryan has been doing all of his 'in processing' but he starts seeing patients today!  I am pretty excited for him.  I think he is excited to finally get to start doing his job!  He has been able to come home for lunch since we have been here.  I have loved it.  Unfortunately I don't think he will anymore, but he does have pretty awesome hours.  He goes in at the crack of dawn and gets off somewhere around 3:30 or 4.   I promise I will take some pictures sometime soon!

My summer workout plans...

I signed up for the Imogene Pass Race in Telluride, CO this fall.  I have started training and am SO excited for it.  This morning I got up with the sun and hiked Mt. Elden with my mom and a friend.  2.9 miles to the top.(and the same back down!)  6,990ft at the bottom to 9,200ft at the top.  I have been trail running about 25-30 miles week.  10 more weeks until Race day!

Road Rash

Poor Brooke.  If it isn't one thing, it's another.  She has constantly had some form of road rash this summer.  Her arms.  Her legs.  Now, her face.  (These pictures are taken 12 hours later, so she isn't upset about it anymore.)  We went for a walk last night and she was running in front of us, and looking back to see if we were coming.  You guessed it...she tripped.  Going up a hill.  She didn't catch herself with her hands.  100% of the impact was in her face.  She has a huge goose egg on her forehead too.

I love summer.

Brooke LOVES to put on "shows" for us.  Every night this week she goes out in the front yard and climbs on the 'box' and sings and dances.  The songs are COMPLETELY made up.  They last about 20 minutes a piece and have improv choreography to go with them.  Peter jumps in when he can and trys to get Brooke to sing "real" songs.

 Heath isn't a fan.
Peter sings songs like "I will GO, I will DO...the things the Lord Commands", complete with arm motions.

We have spent almost every day at the Bear Paw pool.  It has been so fun!  My cousin Erin stopped by for a visit too!  It was so great to catch up with her.  I haven't really had a chance to spend time with her since High School!

(I am going to the pool.  I promise I don't dress this skimpy on a regular basis!)

Las Vegas

Bryan and I took an AWESOME mini-vacation a couple weeks ago.  My parents watched our kids and we went to Vegas!  I loved every minute of it.  We started the trip off with a trip to the Las Vegas Temple.  I have always wanted to go there and was super excited to finally get the chance.  We stayed in the Paris Hotel, layed out by the pool (in the hot Vegas wind....), got a "buffet pass", and spent time with my favorite person in the entire world.  If you haven't heard of this "Buffet of Buffet's" pass, let me enlighten you.  You buy the pass and it is good for 24 hours and you get all you can enter and eat to 6 buffet's on the strip.  I don't think I have ever eaten so much food in my life. The Paris and the new buffet at Ceasar's Palace are the best.  Actually, I don't think anything could top Ceasar's Palace.
We stopped on the new bridge they built to bypass the Hoover Dam.  If you are an Arizona native, you are all too familiar with the crossing of the dam.  It is slow, hot, windy and long.  The bridge they built is incredible.  It is SUPER high.  Like scary, take your breath away and make you dizzy kind of high.  The best part is, it takes about 30 minutes off of the trip.  Awesome.
